An English Migrant family were reputedly terrorised by two ghosts in a dilapidated house they rented in Oakover Avenue, Preston, two kilometres from All Saints'.

The incidents began in Jaunary 1974 when Elizabeth and John Owen, their son Fred and dog Danny heard footsteps in the house. Then a mysterious voice at the front door called out: 'Are you there Alice? Are you there?' Mrs Owen reached the door in seconds but found no one there. Another day she returned home and was about to put her ...

The folks at the almost one hundred and fifty year old Overland Corner Hotel certainly do.

One night Publican Heather Wynand, who lives in the hotel, lay awake and heard the sound of music. With the bar closed and the doors locked, Ms Wynand thought someone must have left the jukebox on in the bar. As she contemplated getting up ...

Many Art Galleries are said to be haunted.....why, one can only wonder, can it have something to do with the history that is attached to the items, a sort of psychometry where much loved items still have their owners memories and energy still attached, sometimes to the point that they are picked up on by the public?

The article I found below while browsing the ABC archives would seem to be attributed to such a phenomenea and in this instance ...

I was on holiday in Tasmania with my partner about four years ago and we decided to stay at Prospect House in the town of Richmond for a couple of nights.

It is an old two story house situated on a large property which was and still is owned by the Buscombe family. The house dates back to the days of convicts in Tasmania. Richmond was also the most prolific locations where convicts were held, worked and passed through. You can see photos of the house on ...

Australian War Memorial

An elderly man from Gympie , Queensland , visited the Australia War Memorial in Canberra a few years ago. As a World War II Veteran, the visit was almost a pilgrimage for him. He was at the head of the queue when the doors opened at 10am and still wandering around the exhibits in the later afternoon. The life-like dioramas of battle scenes particularly impressed him. It was while studying one of these that the old soldier felt suddenly faint.

Old York Hospital

Built in 1894-95 the hospital designed by architect George Temple-Poole was built to accommodate the ever growing number of ill prospectors from the Goldfields.

It ceased to operate as a hospital in 1963.

In 1976 the National Trust acquired the buildings - in the next 20 years it was used by the YHA. The complex was sold in 1998 to a private concern.

The hospital still has a fine shingle roof. (. . . and some say a ghost ?)

- what's going to be its future ...
